August 4: The District Traffic Police Office Chitwan has collected over Rs 30 million in revenue in one year. According to traffic office, revenue of Rs 3,0767,500 was collected in the fiscal year 2080/81. During this period, 41,998 vehicles were fined.
In the previous fiscal year, the office had collected Rs 3,4538,500 in revenue, with 40,664 vehicles being fined, according to the office.
Traffic Office Chief Suresh Subedi stated that the implementation of the Traffic Violation Record System (TVRS) since the last fiscal year has led to a decrease in revenue collection.
Under TVRS, first-time offenders are fined a minimum amount. Once the traffic police enter the driver's information into the system, the driver can pay the fine online.
The government has started implementing this system in all districts of the country to standardize the fine system.
The office collected the highest amount of fines in the month of Poush, with Rs 2.89 million, and the lowest in the month of Kartik, with Rs 2.03 million.
Rs 2.43 million was collected in Shrawan, Rs 2.37 million in Bhadra, Rs 2.87 million in Ashoj, Rs 2.67 million in Mangsir, and Rs 2.86 million in Magh.
Similarly, fines of Rs 2.64 million were collected in Falgun, Rs 2.50 million in Chaitra, Rs 2.52 million in Baisakh, Rs 2.70 million in Jestha, and Rs 2.22 million in Asar.
