Nepal Exports Plywood and Veneer Worth Rs 3 Billion to India in FY 2023/24

JHAPA, July 28: Nepal exported 99,801 metric tons of plywood and other wood products worth Rs 2.96 billion to India in FY 2023/24. Plywood is produced by planting fast-growing trees such as uttis (Alder tree) in the farmlands of the eastern hills in Nepal.

Veneer wood is produced from wooden boards and processed to make plywood for furniture and other wooden items.

During the review period, 21,994 metric tons of veneer worth Rs 241 million were exported to India, according to Chandreshwar Yadav, the information officer at Plant Quarantine Office Kakarvitta. He further shared that plywood worth Rs 2.71 billion has been exported to India during the same period. -- RSS
