Nine Aircrafts Crashed in Nepal in Twelve Years Killing 205

KATHMANDU, July 26: In the last 12 years, there have been nine air crashes across the country, according to the records of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Since the crash of the Sita Air aircraft in September 2012, Nepal Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Goma Air, US-Bangla, Summit Air, Tara Air, Yeti Airlines and Saurya Airlines have met with fatal accidents.

During the review period, 205 people lost their lives in plane crashes. Among all the crashes, the Yeti ATR-72 crash in January last year, in Pokhara, had the highest casualties. Altogether 72 people including the crew members died in the incident, which is the biggest air disaster involving a domestic aircraft in Nepal in terms of human casualties.

All the crashes saw passengers killed except the Turkish Airlines runway excursion incident in TIA.
