After Surging for Six Days in a Row, NEPSE Index Declines by 27.32 Points

KATHMANDU, JULY 24

After surging for six working days in a row, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 27.32 points to close at 2536.11 points on Wednesday, with a turnover of over Rs. 16.2 billion which is highest in nearly three years.

Earlier on August 19, 2021, the daily share turnover had exceeded Rs 20.4 million. 

Market correction was observed on Wednesday as short-term traders booked profits in the rising market.

The Sensitive index, Float index and Sensitive Float index declined by 1.36%, 0.90% and 1.29% respectively.

On Wednesday, more than 4 million units of shares of 311 companies were traded in 1,88,865 transactions.  Two companies, Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited (BNT) and Asian Hydropower Limited (AHL), experienced a positive circuit break in their share values.

While the share price of BNT reached Rs. 16,412 that of Asian Hydropower reached Rs. 689.90.

The share owners of Chirkhwa Hydropower Limited (CKHL) were the biggest losers of the day, with a 7.79% decline in the company’s share. Similarly, Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) saw its share price decline by 6.08% to Rs. 741.

Of the 13 sub-indices, only two increased on Wednesday. While the finance sub-index surged by 1.16%, the trading sub-index declined by 3.09%.
