Monsoon-Induced Disaster Death Toll Climbs to 108

KATHMANDU: A total of 108 people have died due to monsoon-induced disasters, including floods, landslides, and inundations in different parts of the country so far this year. According to the Nepal Police headquarters, the death toll in the monsoon season, which began on June 10, has reached 108 as of July 14.

Among the deceased, two were from Kathmandu Valley, 19 from Koshi Province, five from Madhesh Province, nine from Bagmati Province, 38 from Gandaki Province, 23 from Lumbini Province, four from Karnali Province, and eight from Sudurpaschim Province.

In addition, 119 people were injured in these incidents: eight in Kathmandu Valley, 31 in Koshi Province, nine in Madhesh Province, seven in Bagmati Province, 28 in Gandaki Province, nine in Lumbini Province, 16 in Karnali Province, and 11 in Sudurpaschim Province.

Nepal Police reported that 53 people affected by floods and landslides have been rescued, while six people are still missing. During this period, a total of 182 houses were inundated due to floods. Additionally, 203 houses, 75 sheds, 41 bridges, one school, and two government offices were damaged. -- RSS
