KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police has urged everyone to embark on long journeys only after confirming the road conditions, as highways are obstructed in various parts of the country due to ongoing monsoon rains.
Central Police spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki advised the public to travel only after checking road conditions to avoid being stranded mid-way.
According to the police, several roads remain non-operational, obstructed, and damaged by floods and landslides triggered by relentless monsoon rains in various locations.
The police have emphasized the importance of taking special precautions, as further obstructions are likely with continuing rainfall.
Nepal Police has provided the following contact numbers for information on highway conditions: 100 (general police), 103 (traffic police), 104 (Children at Risk Coordination Centre), and 1113 (police complaints).
Additionally, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has appealed to everyone to take special precautions in light of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology's public notice, which forecasts cloudy weather and rainfall in many areas for the next three days. -- RSS
