KATHMANDU: Seventy-eight people have lost their lives due to floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall in various parts of the country. The physical damage is estimated to be more than Rs 100 million.
Additionally, 90 people have been injured, and five are missing due to the flooding and landslides from June 10 until Tuesday morning, according to the Police Headquarters.
The disasters have also resulted in the death of 381 cattle, the destruction of 98 cowsheds, and the displacement of 595 houses. Five thousand and forty-one police personnel have been mobilized for disaster management during this period, the police report stated.
Floods and landslides have damaged one school and two government office buildings, while 41 bridges have been swept away. Furthermore, 161 houses have been submerged, and 116 ropanis of land have been buried by debris.
The Police Headquarters reported that 1,028 disaster-related incidents have occurred due to the incessant rains, resulting in losses equivalent to Rs 101,885,700. -- RSS
