June 27: The Dhalkebar-Inaruwa section of the 400-KV Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa transmission line has officially started operations, enhancing the reliability of Nepal's electricity transmission system and facilitating power exchange between Nepal and India.
This 154-kilometer transmission line runs from Dhalkebar in Dhanusha to the Inaruwa sub-station in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-4, Sunsari. The activation of the Dhalkebar-Inaruwa section marks the first instance of 400-KV electricity transmission in Nepal.
Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, hailed this development as a significant milestone for the country's power infrastructure. He emphasized that the new transmission line will improve the quality and reliability of the national grid and boost electricity trade with India.
The transmission line has a capacity to transmit around 4,000 megawatts of electricity. The overall 288-kilometer Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa line is being constructed in two phases, with the 134-kilometer Hetauda-Dhalkebar section still under construction.
