KATHMANDU: The Nepal Quality Council has endorsed the assessment procedures for various types of textiles and also fixed the Nepal Quality Standard for safe lead. This initiative is expected to facilitate the exports of textiles and safe lead.
The 112th meeting of the council chaired by Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari on Monday passed the standard determined by the Nepal Bureau of Standard and Metrology.
Prabhat Kumar Singh, spokesperson for the Bureau, stated that the adoption of these quality standards has simplified the process for exporting textiles after their assessment.
Additionally, the meeting approved the standard for safe lead, which the Bureau indicated would aid in the export of safe lead to foreign markets.
The Bureau's Technical Committee conducts technical assessments of industries and goods before forwarding recommendations to the Council for endorsement. The Bureau's director-general serves as the member-secretary of the Council. -- RSS
