CIAA Files Charge Sheet against Chief Secretary Aryal for Corruption   

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal and 11 employees for their alleged involvement in corruption in a procurement deal related to printing of excise duty stickers.    
The anti-graft body filed the corruption case at the Special Court on Sunday, claiming Rs 386 million in recovery from each of those involved in corruption, according to Dhan Bahadur Karki, spokesperson for the Special Court.    
Chief Secretary Dr Aryal has been accused of corruption when he was the secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the chairman of the security printing development committee.

Others accused in the scam include the then Director General of Inland Revenue Department and currently Joint Secretary at Finance Ministry, Ritesh Kumar Shakya, the then Deputy Director General in the same department and currently Deputy Director General at Department of Customs, Tanka Prasad Pande, and the then Executive Director of the Security Printing Centre, Bikal Paudel. Paudel has already been convicted of corruption.    
Others made defendants in the same case are the employees from the Inland Revenue Department’s General Administration Section and Procurement Unit, and National IT Centre’s Ganesh Bikram Shahi, Rabindra Prasad Paudel, Safal Shrestha, Hari Ballav Ghimire, Bishnu Prasad Gautam and Shakti Prasad Shrestha.    
Another individual to face the corruption case in this connection is Director Keshav Sharma who got contract for printing excise duty sticker from his company, Print Sell. -- RSS
