KATHMANDU: Over 1.8 million farmers have been enlisted in the Farmer Enlisting Programme launched by the government in 2077 BS to provide assistance and grants to the farmers.
According to Information Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mahananda Joshi, they are collecting details about the farmers' produces and the land used for cultivation among others at present.
Integrated statistics is being collected from all over the country, said Joshi.
The government is planning to provide assistances and in-kind support such as fertilizers, seeds and other facilities to farmers through digital medium.
The Agriculture Information and Training Centre has been coordinating the programme which seeks to create a network of farmers in a single platform for the government to provide services and facilities to them through one-door policy in the most convenient way.
The farmers enlisted in the programme will get identity cards which will be the major basis for receiving state facilities. The government is also planning to launch a mobile application to provide technical support and services to the farmers.
