CHITWAN: Experts and scientists have emphasized the need for agriculture to adapt to climate change.

They made such a remark at the "International Conference on Ecological Impact on Agriculture, Business, and Technology," organized by the Agriculture and Forestry University in Chitwan on Tuesday. During the conference, experts highlighted climate change as a significant challenge for the agricultural sector's development.

Speakers noted that increasing snowmelt is causing soil erosion and water supply crises, urging the development of agricultural practices and technologies that can mitigate climate change impacts.

National Planning Commission Member Dr. Ramesh Chandra Poudel stressed that development activities should be grounded in nature and science. He advocated for a shift in Nepal's education policy to provide technical and vocational education to up to 70 percent of students.

Similarly, Vice Chancellor of the Agriculture and Forestry University, Prof. Dr. Punya Prasad Regmi, emphasized the need for support to engage university students in research work.

The two-day conference includes participation from experts, professors, and students from Nepal, India, the USA, Indonesia, China, and Australia.

Dr. Rishiram Kattel, Research Director of AFU Research Directorate, mentioned that 100 representatives from various Indian universities and institutions are attending the conference.
