KATHMANDU: Members of Parliament have voiced their dissatisfaction with the budget allocation under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
During a discussion on the Appropriation Bill, 2081, in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, MPs accused the Minister for Physical Infrastructure of concentrating the budget in his constituency. Even MPs from the ruling party raised concerns, alleging that the funds had been distributed based on personal influences.
MP Tejulal Chaudhary highlighted disparities in budget allocation among districts in the Madhes province and Karnali, as the budget has neglected the latter.
MP Prabhu Hajara claimed that the Madhes province had received a comparatively higher budget allocation and suggested making the budget more balanced and objective.
MP Purna Bahadur Tamang also accused the minister of focusing the budget on his district.
MP Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri criticized the minister for not allocating budget to districts still lacking road infrastructure.
MP Badri Prasad Pandey argued that the budget undermined equitable development, while MP Mahesh Bartaula complained about the insufficient prioritization of development in Makwanpur. He specifically demanded more funds for the early completion of the Chitlang-Thankot road. -- RSS
