Central and Western Tarai Likely to Experience Excessive Heat for Three Days

June 11: Excessive heat has been forecast for the next three days in the central and western Tarai regions.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that temperatures in some parts of the southern plains of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces have recently soared to 40 degrees Celsius or higher.

In a special bulletin issued today, the Division forecasts the occurrence of a heat wave for the next three days starting from today. It has urged everyone to take precautions against the adverse weather conditions.

Symptoms of heat wave-related illness include fatigue, weakness, increased thirst, headache, muscle cramps, dizziness, muscle pain, vomiting, and even unconsciousness.

The Division advises the public to take precautions to mitigate the risks associated with the heat wave. People have been advised to stay indoors in cool areas, wear lightweight cotton clothing, avoid direct sun exposure, wear hats when outdoors, and consume plenty of fruits, water, and fluids such as fresh juice.
