June 3: A global tender has been issued for the selection of contractors for the physical construction of the Jagadulla Hydropower Project. The project aims to achieve the goal of 'illuminating Karnali.'
The Chief Executive Officer of the Jagadulla Hydropower Company, Sanjaya Sapkota, informed that the company has solicited a global tender for the main construction work, including civil and mechanical works.
The company published a notice for the global tender on June 2. According to the notice, interested parties can apply for the tender by August 1, 2024.
The company called for a global tender to expedite the project after completing financial management. A bilateral loan agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet. Various banks and financial institutions, led by Nabil Bank, are investing in the project.
Nabil Bank is investing Rs 4.4 billion in the hydropower project. Other investors include the Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited, Citizen Investment Trust, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, and Everest Bank.
"We have made significant progress on time, which has opened up avenues for completing the project within the stipulated timeframe," CEO Sapkota shared.
The Jagadulla Hydropower Project, located in the Dolpa district, has a total production capacity of 106 MW. The electricity generated from the project will be connected to the Bafikot sub-station, which will be constructed by the Nepal Electricity Authority. (RSS)
