KATHMANDU: Irrigation facilities have been added to 1,640 hectares of land in the current fiscal year. According to Economic Survey, irrigation facilities have reached 88.5 percent of the total irrigable land of 1,760,000 hectares and 59.0 percent of the total arable land of 2,640,000 hectares by mid-March, 2024

The survey says irrigation facilities have covered 620 hectares through surface irrigation, 270 hectares through lift irrigation, 700 hectares through underground irrigation, and 50 hectares through reservoir irrigation.

Overall, irrigation facilities have now reached 1,557,148 hectares of land. Of these areas with irrigation facilities, 65.7 percent are covered by surface irrigation and 34.1 percent by underground irrigation.
