Preparations to Declare Pokhara as 'Tourism Capital' in Final Phase

March 15: The provincial government is gearing up to designate Pokhara as the nation's tourism capital. The declaration ceremony is scheduled for March 17 and will be graced by the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the state-owned RSS reported. According to Kuman Singh Gurung, secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment of Gandaki Province, the announcement event will be jointly organized by the Gandaki Province government and Pokhara Metropolitan City.

A procession featuring diverse cultural elements will kick off from Basundhara Park before the official announcement. The declaration ceremony is set to take place at Barahighat, situated on the banks of Fewa Lake.

Furthermore, Pokhara will receive its official designation as the tourism capital with the unveiling of the tourism capital marker, stated spokesperson Gurung. Additionally, a committee, headed by the Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, has been established to ensure the declaration ceremony is held in a grand manner.
