March 13: The demand for juice produced in Nepal is increasing in the international market, according to the Department of Customs’ data of seven months of the current fiscal year (FY).
Juice ranks fifth in the list of most exported goods from Nepal.
According to the department, Nepal exported juice worth Rs 4.38 billion from mid-July to mid-February of the current fiscal year. During the review period, 4,57,67,682 liters of juice have been exported from Nepal. This is 11 percent more than the export during the same period of last year. Compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year, the income from juice export has increased by 33 percent this year.
Last year, 4,11,14,527 liters of juice worth Rs 3.28 billion were exported from Nepal.
Nepal has been exporting juice to India, China, Australia, the United States of America, Italy, Germany and other countries. Most of them are exported to India. In the last seven months, 4,57,16,643 liters of juice worth Rs 4.34 billion were exported to India alone. Similarly, 26,103 liters of juice worth Rs 40.19 million were exported to China.
