March 11: The construction of a 'Pokhara home' with art gallery, public library, clock tower and integrated tourism information centre has begun in the tourist city, Pokhara.

The foundation stone was laid for the construction of the the building on Sunday coinciding the seventh establishment day of Pokhara Metropolitan City.

Pokhara metropolis mayor Dhanraj Acharya laid the foundation stone of Pokhara home building to be constructed in Pokhara-9, Prithvichowk. The home is is expected to be a destination of domestic and foreign tourists coming to visit Pokhara.

The five-storey building will be constructed at an investment of Rs 50.14 million, shared chief engineer of metropolis infrastructure development division, Surendra Pandey. As per the contract, the construction will be completed within next one and a half years, he informed.

The building will have parking on the ground floor, gift home and information centre on the first floor, library and meeting hall on the second floor, art gallery on the third floor and clock tower on the fifth floor, engineer Pandey said.

Laying the foundation stone, mayor Acharya said the 'Pokhara home' will impart comprehensive information about Pokhara. The Pokhara home will become an original of wooden porch blending the use of traditional architecture and modern technology, mayor Acharya added. (RSS)
