Jomsom-Pokhara Flights Resume after Three Months   

March 2: The Jomsom-Pokhara flights have resumed after around three months.    
The flight service from Gandaki province headquarters, Pokhara, to tourism hub, Jomsom, of Mustang had remained closed since November, 2023 due to unfavourable weather conditions.    
Summit Airlines that closed its air service since December 6 last year started boarding on passengers from March 1 (Friday), informed Jomsom Airport Chief Hiron Shah. Summit Airlines made two flights on Friday, he added.      
Tara Airlines that halted its service since November 26 has also made preparation to resume Jomsom-Pokhara flights.    
"With the improvement in weather and the onset of tourist season, the Pokhara-Jomsom flights have resumed," Shah shared.
The resumption of flight service has brought respite to the locals of Mustang as well as pilgrims and tourists as Myagdi section of the Beni-Jomsom road is being upgraded at present. Inflow of tourists is expected to increase in Mustang with the resumption of flight services.    
According to the Ammapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Jomsom, as many as 91,000 foreign tourists had visited Mustang in 2023.    
Flow of vehicles heading towards Mustang through Beni-Jomsom road has gradually increased for the past couple of days with the rise in temperature, informed Chief of District Traffic Police Office, Rajkumar Thapa. -- RSS
