January 12: The Social Security Fund has joined the International Social Security Association (ISSA), which is the umbrella organization for social security programs in the world. The application sent by the Social Security Fund for ISSA membership was approved on June 26, 2023, the fund said.

ISSA is a leading international body of organizations established in 1927 in the context of social security in various countries. So far, 320 organizations from 160 countries have gained its membership.

SSF’s membership of ISSA is expected to make Nepal's social security fund stronger at the international level and will also get an important platform for learning.

The scope of the social security fund in Nepal has expanded in recent months and includes workers from the formal and informal sectors as well as those in foreign employment, and self-employment.
