NEPSE Sheds 26.36 Points to Close at 2022.92

January 7:  The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced a decline of 26.36 points or 1.28%, closing at 2022.92 points on the first trading day of the week on Sunday.

Throughout today's trading session, a total of 304 scrips were exchanged in 98,632 transactions. The trading activity involved 15,268,399 units of shares, contributing to an overall turnover of Rs 5.24 billion.

Seasoned investors and stock analysts attributed the day's fall to pressure associated with the end of the quarter. Investor Prem Oli expressed confidence that the market would regain its upward momentum once the quarter-end pressure subsides.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited (SONA) recorded the highest turnover of Rs 28 crores, concluding at a market price of Rs 498 per share.

Meanwhile, Terhathum Power Company (TPC) achieved the highest gain of 10%, hitting the positive circuit for the day and closing at a market price of Rs 426 per share.

Conversely, Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBS) incurred the most significant loss at 6.69%, concluding at a market price of Rs 710 per share.

In terms of sector indices, all sectors landed in negative territory, except for the Hydropower Index, which recorded a gain of 1.03%. The Life Insurance sector experienced the most substantial loss at 2.40%, while the Mutual Fund sector posted a minimal loss of 0.03%.
