January 4: The price of red potatoes has decreased by 24 percent in the last one month.
According to the Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Market Development Committee, the price of local red potato decreased by 24 percent on January 4 compared to December 4 while the price of Indian red potato dropped by 20 percent in the review period.
According to the committee, the average price (wholesale price) of red potato a month ago was Rs 47 per kg, which has now dropped to Rs 36 per kg. Similarly, the price of red potato imported from India has dropped from Rs 39 per kg to Rs 31 per kg in a month.
The arrival of potatoes in the Kalimati market has decreased in a month. A month ago, 148,180 kg of potatoes arrived in the Kalimati market, which decreased by 8 percent to 135,690 kg on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the price of large Nepali tomatoes has dropped 26 percent from Rs 75 to Rs 55 per kg in the review period while that of large Indian tomatoes has declined by 42 percent from 94 to Rs 55 per kg.
The price of small tomatoes produced in tunnels has dropped from Rs 25 to Rs 19 per kg while that of small local tomatoes has increased from Rs 12 to Rs 14 per kg.
Similarly, the price of onions imported from India has dropped marginally from Rs 97 to Rs 95 per kg within a month.
The price of local carrot remains unchanged at Rs 45 per kg.
The price of local cabbage has dropped from Rs 45 to Rs 35 per kg.
In contrast, the price of cauliflower has increased by 101 percent from Rs 12 per kg to Rs 25 per kg within a span of one month.
The price of red radish has dropped 50 percent from Rs 25 to Rs 12.5 per kg but the price of white radish has increased marginally from Rs 11 to Rs 12 per kg.
The price of brinjal has also increased from Rs 22 to Rs 35 per kg while that of green peas has also increased from Rs 75 to Rs 96 per kg.
