December 26: Former British army member Krishna Bahadur Rai has funded the construction of a new school building in Pauwadung rural municipality, located in the eastern region of Bhojpur district. The cost of the project amounted to Rs 13.9 million.
The Shitaladevi Basic School, which previously had outdated infrastructure, received a new 6-room building due to Rai's commitment to improving education for remote villagers. The handover ceremony to the school management team took place on Monday.
Krishna Bahadur Rai, aged 70, dedicated his income to this educational initiative, redirecting his initial plan to construct a building for a health post to address the pressing needs of the school.
In addition to the new building, Rai announced his intention to facilitate the development of a playground for the benefit of the schoolchildren.
Reflecting on his decision, Rai stated, "Although my initial plan was for a health post, I redirected my support to the school, considering the health post already had a new building." He expressed confidence that the new infrastructure would contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of education in the region.
Rural municipality chair Kiran Rai acknowledged and praised Krishna Bahadur's philanthropic gesture, describing it as a substantial contribution to the village. "We're indebted to him for this significant development," Kiran Rai remarked.
School principal Chandra Bogati highlighted the positive impact of the new school building, emphasizing its role in retaining students and ensuring the delivery of quality education. (RSS)
