December 18: The government has disbursed Rs 1 billion to facilitate the construction of temporary housing for people affected by the earthquake that struck Jajarkot and surrounding districts on November 3. The allocation, sanctioned by the Finance Ministry, aims to provide swift relief to those impacted by the earthquake.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Rs 930 million has already been dispatched to the respective districts as of Monday.
Anil Pokhrel, the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, stated, "The Finance Ministry released Rs 1 billion on Sunday, and today we sent Rs 930 million. The distribution aligns with the government's priority to support individuals affected by the earthquake."
Following a decision made during the cabinet meeting on November 13, the Finance Ministry earmarked Rs 1 billion for this purpose, out of the total Rs 10 billion designated for earthquake relief.
An allocation breakdown reveals that Rs 540 million was directed to Jajarkot, Rs 340 million to Rukum Paschim, and Rs 50 million to Salyan.
This recent disbursement supplements an earlier allocation of Rs 1.41 billion by the Authority for temporary housing construction. As per the latest data, 60,337 individuals are identified as beneficiaries of the relief. (RSS)
