December 17: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued its upward trajectory on the first trading day of the week, closing at 2022.35, marking a notable gain of 27.75 points or 1.39% on Sunday.
During today’s trading session, a total of 295 scrips were traded, with 101,128 transactions involving 17,166,465 shares. The market exhibited robust activity, resulting in a substantial turnover of Rs 5.15 billion.
Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited (HDHPC) recorded the highest turnover of Rs 25 crores.
Additionally, 11 companies, including Bottlers Nepal Limited (BNL), Ridi Power Company Limited (RIDI), Balephi Hydropower Limited (BHL), and Dordi Khola Jal Bidyut Company Limited (DORDI), each experienced a significant gain of 10%, triggering the positive circuit for the day.
However, Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (HLBSL) incurred the most substantial loss at 6.77%.
Analyzing sector indices, all sectors, except for the Banking SubIndex, Mutual Fund, and Trading Index, closed in the green zone. The HydroPower Index notably gained the highest at 5.55%, while the Banking SubIndex suffered a marginal loss at 0.67%.
Market experts and stock analysts anticipate a continued upward trend, citing a positive sentiment among investors. Factors contributing to this optimism include the decline in bank interest rates and the Nepal Rastra Bank's decision to reduce the risk weightage from 150% to 125% on margin lending.
