December 14: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced an increase of 6.55 points or 0.325%, reaching a closing value of 1994.60 on the final trading day of the week on Thursday.
This positive trend in the NEPSE Index has been ongoing since the release of the Nepal Rastra Bank's first quarterly review on the monetary policy for the fiscal year 2023-2024. The review included a reduction in the risk weightage from 150% to 125% for margin lending against shares.
During today’s trading session, a total of 300 scrips were traded through 66,955 transactions, involving 9,637,455 traded shares. The overall turnover amounted to Rs 3.15 billion. Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited (SONA) achieved the highest turnover of Rs 16 crores.
Different companies, including Bottlers Nepal Limited (BNL), Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha (HLBSL), Nepal Republic Media (NRM), and Nepal Hydro Developers Limited (NHDL), experienced a 10% rise, hitting the positive circuit for the day. Conversely, Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) incurred the most significant loss at 4.98%.
In terms of sector indices, all sectors closed in the green zone except for the Banking Subindex, Investment Index, Life Insurance, Microfinance Index, and Trading Index. The Others Index witnessed the highest gain at 1.51, while the Trading Index recorded the most significant loss at 0.92%.
