December 8: In the aftermath of the November 3 earthquake with its epicenter at at Ramidanda of Jajarkot, Aathbiskot Municipality in Rukum Paschim district has identified nearly 10,000 individuals who require support for the construction of temporary housing.
The municipality's Acting Chief Administrative Officer, Maniraj Shah, said data collected from all 14 wards of the municipality reveals that 9,962 individuals are in need of assistance following the seismic event. These confirmed beneficiaries will receive financial support to facilitate the construction of temporary shelters.
Previously, 4,500 individuals from the municipality had already received Rs 25,000 each to aid in the construction of their temporary dwellings. Acting on the recent data, the remaining 5,462 beneficiaries are now slated to receive the first tranche of financial aid.
Despite the financial assistance, the municipality currently lacks records detailing the number of temporary houses constructed since the earthquake. While some temporary residences have been completed, a significant portion of quake survivors continues to live under tarpaulins.
Mayor Rabilal KC assured ongoing efforts to ensure that all those affected by the earthquake will be accommodated in temporary housing by mid-December. (RSS)
