November 30: The government has projected that 10 million manpower will be needed in the country's service sector after two decades. A study on manpower projection conducted by the Ministry of Education has shown that a large number of manpower will be required in the service sector after two decades.

According to the projection, it is estimated that 84,13,898 human resource will be required in the service sector in 2090 BS and 1,03, 00,101 in 2100 BS. By the end of 2080, the current Nepali year, it is estimated that 45,74,693 manpower will be needed in the service sector.

The national manpower policy issued by the government has pointed out problems such as ensuring the areas of human resource generation, distribution and utilization. I has also identified lack of scientific projection of sectoral manpower, lack of coordination between the demand and supply of produced manpower, lack of an integrated mechanism to coordinate human resource activities.

The government is currently holding intensive discussions to implement the policy.

This policy is necessary for the development of sustainable and balanced national human resource by identifying the needs of every sector. The policy envisages creating human capital with technical, professional, scientific and managerial knowledge, endowed with skill and technology. The policy also suggests taking into consideration the demand and supply before producing human resources.

The government is planning to form a human resource development commission or a committee with the participation of concerned ministries and the private sector to identify the issue of employment areas at the federal, state and local levels.

The government will also set training standards. Issues such as self employment and employment will also be given due consideration.

Under Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Arjun Shrestha, said that this policy has made projections for various sectors and how to manage human resources.
