November 21: The government has allocated Rs 1.41 billion to construct temporary residences for individuals displaced by the November 3 earthquake in Jajarkot and surrounding districts.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) announced the release of the first tranche of funds, which will benefit Jajarkot, Rukum Paschim, Bajhang, Bajura, and Salyan districts in accordance with government decisions.
Out of the total amount, Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts are set to receive Rs 500 million each, said NDRRMA spokesperson Dhruba Bahadur Khadka. Additionally, Rs 250 million has been earmarked for Bajhang, Rs 140 million for Bajura, and Rs 20 million for Salyan district.
The fund allocation aligns with the Temporary Residence Construction Guidelines 2080 BS, approved during the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee meeting on November 12.
Khadka emphasized that the first tranche of the fund adheres to these guidelines, ensuring legal facilitation for supporting those affected by the earthquake. The selection of beneficiaries will be carried out by the respective local authorities, with funds disbursed according to established laws.
Stringent auditing procedures will be implemented to ensure transparent and accountable management of the allocated funds. (RSS)
