November 9: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat called on Asian banks to invest in Nepal during the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) 39th Conference in Kathmandu.
Dr Mahat highlighted the significant investment opportunities in Nepal, particularly in the hydropower sector, following India's commitment to purchase 10,000 megawatts of power from Nepal in the next 10 years.
Minister Mahat assured that the government is committed to facilitating such investments and promoting green energy with the goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2045.
He also mentioned the support of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank for mega hydropower projects in Nepal.
Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari emphasized the need to make the country's economy more dynamic and secure sustainable economic growth.
Asian Bankers Association Chair Eugene S. Acevedo called for collaborative efforts to ensure the sustainability of Asian economies.
Representatives of more than 60 banks and financial sectors of 18 countries are attending the two-day conference jointly organized by Nepal Bankers' Association and the Asian Bankers Association.
