President Paudel Postpones European Trip Due to Earthquake

November 6: President Ramchandra Paudel has postponed his scheduled visit to France, Italy, and Germany, which was originally scheduled for this Wednesday. The decision was made in light of the recent devastating earthquake in Karnali Province in the country.

The President's press advisor, Kiran Pokharel, announced the postponement through a press release today. President Paudel has chosen to stay in the country and assess the situation in the earthquake-affected regions, the statement reads.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale struck Jajarkot in the Karnali province on November 3, resulting in significant loss of life and property in several areas, including Jajarkot and Rukum West.

The President's visit to the European countries had been approved by the Council of Ministers on November 2. Despite the importance of this visit for Nepal and its people, President Paudel believes it is not appropriate to leave the country in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

President Paudel was scheduled to attend the 'One Polar Planet Summit' and the 'Paris Pact for People and Planet' conferences in Paris, France, under the Peace Forum Programme, from November 9 to 11, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. (RSS)
