October 30: Altogether 74,09,181 people in Nepal have at least one back account with banks and financial institutions (BFIs) excluding cooperatives, according to the House and Household Listing Results conducted under the National Census 2021 published by the National Statistics Office on Monday.
The National Census 2021 was conducted in two phases from September 15, 2021 to October 4, 2021 and from November 11, 2021 to November 25, 2021. However, the National Statistics Office was yet to publish the House and Household Listing Results of the census although the full report of the National Census has already been published.
Issuing a statement on Monday, the National Statistics Office said it is in the process of publishing additional information related to the census.
As per the latest report of the census, the number of people having at least one bank account in Nepal is 25.56 percent of the total population of Nepal, which is 2,91,64,578 as per the 2021 census.
Out of 1,42,53,551 men, 26.42 percent have at least one bank account while out of 1,49,11,027 women, 24.74 percent have at least one bank account.
According to the National Statistics Office, there are altogether 75,52,066 houses in Nepal. Majority of them are one-storey houses, reads the report. According to the census report, 59.82 percent of the houses in Nepal are one-storey houses followed by 28.78 percent of two-storey houses, 9.17 percent of three-storey houses, 1.3 percent of four-storey houses, 0.64 percent of five to seven storey houses, 0.01 percent of eight to nine storey houses and 0.003 percent of houses above ten storeys.
