October 14: A helicopter of Manang Air crashed while landing at Lobuche in the Everest region on Saturday morning.
The helicopter was flying from Lukla to Lobuche for a rescue operation and crashed at 7:24 am in the morning.
The helicopter’s pilot Prakash Sedhai was the only person onboard at the time of the accident. Captain Sedhai, who was injured in the accident, has been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. According to information officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Gyanendra Bhul, Captain Sedhai is out of danger.
According to media reports, the pilot has sustained burn injuries and he is being transferred to Mumbai from Kathmandu-based HAMS for specialized treatment.
The reason of the accident is not known yet and CAAN will reveal it after further investigation, Bhul told state-owned RSS.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has suspended the license of Manang Air following frequent crashes.
“#CAAN has suspended the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of Manang Air Pvt. Ltd. until further notice,” CAAN wrote on Twitter, adding that a four-member committee has been formed for the investigation of H125 helicopter (9N-ANJ) accident of Manang Air in Lobuche area on Saturday.
