NEPSE Index Gives Continuity to Its Downfall

October 12: The Nepal Stock Exchange(NEPSE) Index lost 20.16 points or 1.06%, closing at 1874.60 points on the last trading day of the week, Thursday.

Seasoned investors and stock analysts attributed today’s fall to the festive season and tight polices implemented by Nepal Rastra Bank on the lending against the shares and risk weightage of 150%.

During today’s trading, a total of 292 scrips were traded through 62,046 transactions. As many as 7,558,542 units of shares exchanged their hands, amounting to Rs 1.70 billion.

Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited(LSLPO)  had the highest turnover of Rs.16 crores   and closed at a market price of Rs. 100.

Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company Limited(BGWT) and Mid Solu Hydropower Limited(MSHL) posted a gain of 10% each and hit the positive circuit for the day.

On the flip side, City Hotel Limited(CITY) and Barahi Hydropower Public Limited(BHPL) experienced the loss of 9.09% and 8.19% respectively.

In terms of sector indices, all sectors landed in the red territory. Hotels and Tourism Index lost the highest 3%, while Mutual Fund Index experienced the least 0.16% respectively.

Meanwhile, Sensitive Index experienced a loss of 0.81% while Float Index and Sensitive Float Index decreased by 1.10% and 0.89% respectively.
