PM Pledges Support for Sport Development   

October 12: Prime Minster Pushpa Kamal Dahal has pledged government’s assistance for the development of the sports sector.    
Extending congratulations to the athletes who won medals in the recently concluded 19th Asian Games held in China, PM Dahal urged the athletes for further efforts to secure more medals and perform better. He said so during a programme held at his residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday evening.    
He observed that women athletes performed well in the games.

PM Dahal also announced that players securing medals would be given awards. Similarly, the cricketers will also be awarded by the government, added the PM.    
"I had announced award for the athletes as an encouragement. The government has also formulated regulation in this regard. The Finance Ministry will release the amount for award within a week," PM Dahal shared.    
Also attending the programme were Minister for Youth and Sports, the Member Secretary of National Sports Council and the President of Nepal Olympics Committee, and women athletes who secured medals in the 19th Asian Games.    
It may be noted that Nepal won a bronze medal in Women's Kabbadi and a silver in individual Karate event. -- RSS
