NRB to Issue New Notes from Next Monday

October 9: Nepal Rastra Bank is preparing to issue new currency notes from October 16, targeting festivals like Dashain and Tihar.

Issuing a notification on Sunday, the central bank said that its Currency Management Department as well as designated branches of commercial banks will issue the new notes.

Similarly, the notification mentions that currency exchange facilities will be available in the regional offices of the central bank and the branches designated by the commercial banks outside the valley.

In the past few years, commercial banks have also been issuing new notes apart from the central bank.

The central bank will provide exchange facility up to Rs 18,500 per person this year, in which one packet of Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50 and Rs 100 will be available.

The NRB, which did not issue new notes for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, started offering the facility before Dashain from last year.
