September 26: Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital remained tense on Monday after a 57-year-old patient died in course of treatment at the hospital.
Sukamaya Dura of Lamjung was brought to the hospital on Monday morning after she complained of breathing complications. The relatives of the woman have accused the doctors for negligence in the treatment, leading to her 'unexpected' death. They also accused the hospital of not providing the updates of the patient to them on time.
A significant number of security forces has been presently mobilized at the hospital, considering a potential threat to medical professionals involved in the treatment of the woman, according to police.
The irate mob smashed the hospital door as well.
Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kaski, Shrawan Kumar BK said that the hospital administration and the relatives of the victims were holding talks to reach an agreement by the time this news report was prepared.
The hospital management has assures that it would soon provide factual data about the incident. -- RSS
