September 26: Climbers are arriving at the base camp of Mt. Dhaulagiri in Myagdi district for their autumn expedition. Aspiring climbers are joined by support Sherpa groups who are helping transport the necessary equipment and gear for the climb.

According to Indra Sherchan, a local tourism entrepreneur who assists climbers at the base camp, the initial group of climbers was airlifted to the base camp, while mules and donkeys have been used to transport expedition supplies and daily consumables.

More climbers are en route to the base camp, and as of now, a total of 10 climbers from a single group have obtained permits to ascend the 8,167-meter mountain in the upcoming winter season.

The Department of Tourism reported that they have collected over Rs 1.1 million in revenue from five male and five female climbers who aspire to conquer Mt. Dhaulagiri this autumn.

This year, a total of 339 climbers from 47 countries have been granted permits to climb 10 different mountains this autumn, resulting in the State earning over Rs 30 million in revenue, according to the Department. (RSS)
