September 25: Commercial flights from Manthali in Ramechhap district to Lukla have officially commenced from Sunday. Tara Air, Summit Air, and Sita Air have started off regular flights from Manthali Airport, catering primarily to foreign tourists.
This new air route has been established in response to the heightened air traffic congestion experienced at Kathmandu Airport during the peak tourist season. The three airlines ferry tourists from Kathmandu to Manthali by bus and then onward to Lukla via aircraft.
With the advent of the tourist season this year, it is anticipated that these airlines will conduct an increased number of flights, provided that weather conditions remain favorable.
Manthali Airport, located in close proximity to Kathmandu, boasts refueling facilities and serves as an emergency landing site for aircraft in the eastern region. (RSS)
