September 23: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has urged one and all not to fly kites, drones and balloons around the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
CAAN Spokesperson and Deputy Director General Jagannath Niraula said cases of flying kites, drones and balloons in the vicinity of the airport have been reported despite a prohibition. It has posed a serious threat to aviation safety, he added.
The situation has prompted the aviation regulatory body to urge all to not repeat such acts any more. The risk is potentially high during Dashain and Tihar as these festivals are marked by flying kites.
The CAAN issued a public notice on Friday seeking cooperation from the public not5 to indulge in any activities that affect the safety of flights, and warned of action if the request is violated. -- RSS
