Over 100,000 Nepalis Obtain Labour Permits for Foreign Employment in First Two Months of Current FY

September 22: In the first two months of the current fiscal year 2023/2024, more than 1,00,000 Nepalis have received labour permits.

According to the Department of Foreign Employment, during the first two months of the fiscal year 2023/2024, a total of 1,06,459 individuals obtained labour permits.

As per the department, 55,575 individuals received labour permits in the month of Shrawan, and 50,884 individuals received them in the month of Bhadra.

Over the course of these two months, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) attracted the highest number of workers, with 23,587 individuals securing work permits.

Additionally, 20,717 individuals acquired work permits for employment in Saudi Arabia, while 20,328 individuals did so for Qatar.

Malaysia was also a popular destination, with 17,437 individuals obtaining work permits to seek employment there.

In the first two months of the fiscal year 2022/2023, the number of individuals going abroad for foreign employment was 139,442.

As reported by the Department of Foreign Employment, this represents a 23 percent decrease in the number of individuals going abroad for foreign employment during the same period this year compared to the last fiscal year.
