Remittance Inflow Increases by 25 Percent in First Month of Current FY

September 17: The inflow of remittance into Nepal in the first month of the current fiscal year increased by 25.8 percent compared to an increase of 20.3 percent in the same period of the previous year.

According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Sunday, the remittance inflow between mid-July and mid-August in the current fiscal year stood at Rs 116.02 billion

In terms of the US dollar, remittance inflow increased 21.5 percent to 879.8 million in the review period compared to an increase of 12.5 percent in the same period of the previous year, reads the NRB report.

Meanwhile, the number of Nepali workers (institutional and individual) taking new approval for foreign employment decreased 12.1 percent to 39,152 in the review period. The number of Nepali workers renewing their work permits for foreign employment decreased 19.5 percent to 16,423 in the review period. It had increased 75.4 percent in the same period of the previous year, added the report.

Similarly, the net transfer increased 26.1 percent to Rs 128.21 billion in the review period. Such a transfer had increased 18.4 percent in the same period of the previous year.
