September 12: The Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Taskforce submitted its report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday, according to Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Gokarna Mani Duwadi.
A cabinet meeting held on May 9 had formed the Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Taskforce under the coordination of National Planning Commission member, Dr Jaykant Raut.
The taskforce submitted the report to the government along with measures for the solution to the problems seen in the cooperative sector.
Duwadi shared that the taskforce has suggested to the government to bring some plans in order to give immediate relief to the victims of cooperatives.
Similarly, it also suggested the government to take initiatives to resolve problems of the cooperative sector by making some legal reforms. "The report has short-term, mid-term and long-term suggestions," he mentioned.
Receiving the report, Prime Minister Dahal directed the bodies concerned to take initiative in order to resolve the problems of the cooperative sector, and to formulate necessary policy for the long-term solution to the problems, said Secretary Duwadi. -- RSS
