September 4: There was a pause on the continuous fall in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index on the second trading day of the week, Monday.
The benchmark Index posted gains of 7.04 points or 0.35% and closed at 1967.83 points today. Despite the market’s single digit rise, the turnover amount dipped.
Seasoned investors and experts attribute the bearish trend in the market for the negative psychology prevalent among the investors. As a result of this, the market has failed to pick up the momentum.
During today's trading, a total of 270 scrips exchanged their hands through 32,533 transactions. As many as 3,432,267 shares were traded, amounting to Rs 1.09 billion.
IME Life Insurance Company Limited (ILI) recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 5.28 crores and closed at a market price of Rs. 559. The shares of GBIMEP traded the most.
Similarly, Three Star Hydropower Limited (TSHL) gained the highest 10%, hitting the upper circuit for the day. Meanwhile, Liberty Energy Company Limited (LEC) lost the highest 9.98% today.
In terms of sector indices, only the "Finance Index" closed in red zone. "Trading Index" gained the highest 1.06% while "Investment" gained the least 0.05% today.
Sensitive Index gained 0.28% while Float Index and Sensitive Float Index increased by 0.30% and 0.22% respectively.
