August 16: The Nepalese Stock Exchange(NEPSE) index plunged by 20.31 percent and closed at 2025.12 points on the fourth trading day of the week, Wednesday. The secondary benchmark index has fallen for the last three consecutive trading days.
The Sensitive Index dropped by 1.41%, while Float Index and Sensitive Float Index slumped by 0.95% and 1.09% respectively.
On Wednesday, a total of 4,838,106 shares were traded, amounting to Rs 1.669 billion. As many as 269 companies were traded through 45,167 transactions. On Tuesday, 56,03,798 shares were traded, amounting to Rs 2.115 billion.
Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 8.41 crores and closed at a market price of Rs. 1,969. Similarly, Sunrise Focused Equity Fund (SFEF) gained the highest 4.00% to close at Rs. 8.32.
Meanwhile, Mountain Hydro Nepal Limited (MHNL) lost the highest 8.06% today. All sub-indices closed in the red zone. Hydropower Index lost the most with 1.85 percent while Hotel and Tourism Index lost the least 0.01%.
