August 16: A total of 71 micro, domestic and small-scale industries were shut down in Dhanusha district in the last fiscal year (FY 2022/23). According to the Office of Domestic and Small Industries, Dhanusha, among the closed industries include 28 small-scale industries and 42 domestic industries. Hundreds of workers have become unemployed due to the closure of the industry.
According to the office, these industries were closed due to the impact of Covid-19, increase in interest rates of banks, and lack of liquidity. Commercial shutters are becoming empty in Janakpurdham after the closure of business.
Currently, 536 small-scale industries and 591 domestic industries are operating in Dhanusha. Altogether 6,930 people have got direct employment from these industries. The office informed that the fixed and current capital of the operating industry is Rs 3.55 billion.
