August 11: The Securities Board of Nepal(SEBON) has granted broker licenses to three new companies. SEBON made the decision to grant licenses to J.B.N.L Securities Limited, RBB Securities Company Limited, and C.B.I.L Securities Limited.
The three new companies have been issued licenses to operate as limited stock brokerage companies, according to Mukti Shrestha, the spokesperson for the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
The SEBON has granted new broker licenses to these 32 companies in various phases so far. In the first phase, seven companies received licenses, followed by 11 in the second phase, 11 in the third phase, and three companies in the fourth phase.
Out of the 32 newly-licensed brokerage companies, seventeen have received membership of the Nepal Stock Exchange(NEPSE). Seven companies that received the licenses in the first phase form the SEBON have started trading in the secondary market.
Eleven companies that have obtained letters of intent are awaiting licenses. These companies will undergo evaluation and inspection by the board and will be issued licenses if they meet the set criteria, said Mukti Shrestha, the spokesperson at the SEBON.
