August 10: The number of individuals obtaining work permits in Karnali Province has been on the rise recently. According to the Labour and Employment Office in Surkhet, during the fiscal year 2079/80 BS, a total of 3,300 people acquired new work permits.
In the fiscal year 2075/76 BS, 919 men and 7 women had their work permits renewed. Similarly, in the fiscal year 2076/77 BS, 1,990 men and 36 women obtained work permits, followed by 667 men and 8 women in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS, and 1,005 men and 26 women in the fiscal year 2078/79 BS.
Nirmala Regmi, the Information Officer, stated that the growing trend of people seeking foreign employment is driven by the higher remuneration offered in other countries compared to Nepal.
The number of individuals choosing to work in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Moldova, and Belarus has been increasing.
Salyan district in Karnali Province has recorded the highest number of individuals opting for overseas employment, said Regmi. (RSS)
