Six More Arrested Including Customs Officials in Connection to Gold Smuggling   

July 24: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) on Sunday arrested six more persons including three government officials for their alleged involvement in smuggling 100 kilograms of gold last week.    
Information Officer of DRI Nabaraj Adhikari said that the arrested are Customs Officer Santosh Chand, X-ray Operator Saroj Shrestha and Customs Invigilator Kumar Dhakal.    
Likewise, customs agents Sudarshan Gautam, Rukmini Subba and Yadav Parajuli were also arrested.    
So far, 16 individuals have been arrested in this case.    
The department had seized the illegally imported gold from Tribhuvan International Airport area that had passed the customs undetected on Wednesday. The gold was brought from Hong Kong. -- RSS
